On May 4, 2006; Four candidates for Mayor of San Jose participated in a debate at Burnett Academy. This event was sponsored by the Hyde Park Neighborhood Association in cooperation with:
Rosemary Gardens NA
Vendome NA
Hensley Historical District NA
Japantown NA.
Participants were:
• Dave Cortese
• Michael Mulcahy
• David Pandori
• Chuck Reed
Though she originally confirmed her attendance with the organizers of the event, a conflict arose and Cindy Chavez ultimately did not attend. “Obviously, it would have made for a better debate if she were there but these mixups happen especially in this busy election season.” said the President of the Hyde Park NA.
This debate was a little different than all the other formats. Moderator Scott Herhold, columnist for the Mercury News, had specific questions tailored for each candidate and each candidate was allowed to ask a direct question to each of the other candidates. It made for an interesting exchange.
